PhD Scholarships in Economics of Innovation
Scholarship
- DFG-funded scholarships of about €1,300 per month with duration of up to three years
- a lively international research and social environment hosting top-level researchers in economics and related fields,
- financial support for attending conferences and stays abroad,
- an office and access to all facilities and library resources of the Friedrich Schiller University and the Max Planck Institute of Economics.
Eligibility
The programme is suitable for candidates with excellent past performance in economics and business administration, or closely related fields. The candidates should have interest in pursueing research in at least one of the above-mentioned fields. They should have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g. Diplom). The scholarship positions require a permanent and active participation in the study and the research programme of the Research Training Group. Therefore all scholarship holders are expected to choose Jena as their place of residence.

The AP-Google Journalism and Technology
Scholarship program provides US$20,000 scholarships for the 2012-13
academic year to undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees at the
intersection of journalism, computer science and new media. Scholars will be
chosen in Spring 2012.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently enrolled full time at an
accredited U.S. post-secondary institution pursuing an undergraduate or graduate
degree.
The scholarships are open to college sophomores or higher
with at least one year of full-time undergraduate or graduate study remaining.
Applicants must submit a project or concept that explains how his or her
strategy moves digital journalism forward. Scholarship winners also will receive
a one-year ONA membership and recognition at ONA’s 2012 conference in San
Francisco.
Students from diverse backgrounds, as well as those
attending rural-area institutions, are strongly encouraged to apply. In
addition, a selected number of scholarships will be based on financial need.

The International Peace Scholarship Fund, established in 1949, is a
program which provides scholarships for selected women from other
countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada.
Eligibility
- An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate
study, working toward a graduate degree in a college or university in
the United States or Canada.
- A student holding citizenship or permanent residency of the United
States or Canada is ineligible.
- Scholarships are not given for research, internships, or practical
training, if not combined with coursework; travel, or to pay past debts.
- In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must
have a full year of coursework remaining, be enrolled and in residence
for the entire school year.
- Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working on
dissertations only are not eligible as first-time applicants.
- International students attending Cottey are eligible to apply for a
scholarship.
Amount of scholarship
The maximum amount awarded to a student is $10,000. Lesser amounts may
be awarded according to individual needs.
Scholarship
The scholarship is based upon demonstrated need; however, the award is
not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses. At the time of
application, the applicant is required to confirm additional financial
resources adequate to meet her estimated expenses. Examples of additional
resources are personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work
scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants and other
scholarships.
Application policies and procedures
- Eligibility must be established before application material is made
available electronically to applicants. The eligibility information is
available at any time from our P.E.O. website at peointernational.org.
The completed eligibility material will be accepted electronically only
between August 15 and December 15.
- The deadline for submitting application and all related material,
except applicant’s confirmation of admission from the university, is
January 31.
- A copy of the applicant’s confirmation of admission, specifying the
graduate degree program, must be received by the International Peace
Scholarship Fund, P.E.O. Executive Office by April 1.
- Information concerning the International Peace Scholarship program
is available from the P.E.O. Executive Office or from the website at

has been received from the applicant.

PhD Scholarships in Economics of Innovation
The DFG Research Training Group 1411 “The Economics of Innovative
Change” is an outstanding international research programme, jointly hosted
by the Friedrich Schiller University and the Max Planck Institute
of Economics, both in Jena, Germany. The Research Training Group
is funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) and is
integrated in an environment of related graduate programmes in social
sciences. It currently hosts about 40 exceptional PhD candidates, 6
post-doctoral researchers, and 10 senior faculty members.
The mission of the Research Training Group is to
provide an internationally competitive research training for young
economists. The official language is English. Allowing
for a broad concept of “innovation” the programme address a wide range of
topics: industrial dynamics; entrepreneurship; innovation decisions and
behaviour; competition, cooperation and strategic interaction in
innovation; innovation in the development of consumption and consumer
behaviour; human capital, skills and employment; innovation and regional
development; innovation and economic dynamics of developing countries;
energy, environment and innovation; innovation policy, and innovation
management. The analytical approaches they pursue range from theoretical
and empirical modeling, game theory, simulation analysis to experimental
economics.
