ERASMUS+ project of institutional development “Role of Universities in regional development, Telavi meeting

Telavi State University hosted a coordinating meeting within the framework of the RURD. The aim of the project is to raise universities’ role in regional development with EU partners' support, to modernize their mission and strategic plan, to strengthen ties with universities and local governments while foreseeing specifics of each region.

Coordinating meeting was held on May 3, led by Mr. Giorgi Sosiashvili, chairman of the conference. Rectors of other universities, ministry of Education and EQE representatives attended the meeting and discussed a new model of financing education system, the project is incentivized by the ministry with financial aid from World Bank as achieving Good quality education is the main task for the Ministry and for this purpose Georgia needs to create effective financial model for higher education and goal driven management system to ensure enhancement and stability of higher educational institutions. Parties also discussed other important issues, such as: Role of the universities at local level: the third mission events and decision making process at municipality level, creating a united platform for sharing information and implementation etc.
