06 March,2015On March 6, 2015 the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze visited Gori State Teaching University with the Deputy Ministers and the Head of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. The Minister visited newly reconstructed outbuilding of Gori University.
The purpose of the meeting was the introduction of the scheme of career development, teacher’s profession and professional development.
The meeting was opened by Gori State Teaching University Rector, Professor Giorgi Sosiashvili, who talked about the importance of the visit of the leading persons from the Ministry of Education and Science.
The meeting was attended by the staff and academic personal of Gori State Teaching University together with the heads of Shida Kartli Regional Educational Resource Centers and Public Schools.
At the meeting the Minister talked about the new scheme of teacher professional development in details, which maintains complex evaluation and continuous development of teachers’ competencies for their successful pedagogical career.
The Minister explained how should higher educational institutions, public and private schools be involved in the new system.
The new scheme includes preparation of pedagogical staff in accordance with modern requirements, that’s why there were discussed the novelties in the programs of teachers’ preparation for universities. It was underlined that after graduation of Bachelor’s program the graduates will have professional, methodological and practical knowledge.
The audience was allowed to express their ideas about the scheme and ask questions to the Minister.
