On June 11, 2015 the representatives of the Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development of Georgia, LEPL Agency of Innovations and Technologies together with the representatives of the World Bank visited Gori State Teaching University. They were greeted by the University Rector Professor Giorgi Sosiashvili.

The purpose of the meeting was to create “Fab Lab” and “i-Lab” type laboratories of fabrication and teaching innovations, which is realized by the support of the World Bank.

Innovation laboratory - “i-Lab” means creating those infrastructural instruments which will enclose teaching process to the market requirements. It will give students opportunity to have access to modern technological achievements, observe and make research according to the market requirements.

Fabrication innovations laboratory - “Fab Lab” means creating fabrication innovations laboratories in the country, which aims the creation of engineering-research, fabrication space and a sharp development.

Analogical laboratories have already been created in Tbilisi and now it is realized on the regional level. Shida Kartli was selected as one of the prior regions and by the support of Gori Municipality the above mentioned laboratories will be created on the basis of Gori University, where students will have opportunity to work out ideas and then realize them as products.

At the end of the meeting the guests talked to the students, listened to their ideas about the above mentioned questions and leant if there is a readiness for creating such kind of center at Gori University.
