Visit to villages near demarcation line
19 April,2016On April 17, 2016 rector of the university Giorgi Sosiashvili, coordinator of the Caucasian house public university Tamar Ujukhu and students self-government of Gori university endeavor to invite students from TSU and representatives of Caucasian house public university . Students participated in the event and with the effort of Giorgi Sosiashvili they visited historical places of Liakhvi Gorge as well as surroundings of the area. They visited Shindisi, Nikozi, Arbo and Ditsi ,villages which are situated near the demarcation line and 2008 war had a major impact on them and civilian population suffered appalling losses. Students saw sights and learnt more about the history of these villages
Students of GSTU and TSU with representatives of Caucasian house public university visited memorial of Shindisi heroes and adorned the memorial with wreath who fought and gave their lives to our country . students , also, plant trees and Mr. Sosiashvili told them about the tragic events of the war. Students eye witnessed villagers everyday life as an ordeal and struggle to survive and stay at the same land they have lived on.
They also visited diocese of Nikozi, st.Aleksandre Okropiridze cultural school of Nikozi and learnt about their art, attended the performance “little Tramp”. Giorgi Sosiashvili gave a lecture on historical issues of diocese of Nikozi and Tskhinvali.
They , also, visited Arbo, Mr. Sosiashvili gave a tour and talked about the history of st .George’s church where he had found some Georgian inscriptions, carved on the stones and dated in IX-X centuries. According to those newly founded inscriptions Ditsi church might have been built earlier then it was considered.
